A Message from the Pastor
Dear blessed people,
Together we have gone through the holy drama of re-living Jesus’ life through the Passion. Each and every year, we walk the walk with him. We follow him as he rides the donkey and the colt into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. We are with him as the Jewish Passover Meal of Thursday becomes Holy Communion / Eucharist (thanksgiving), a new covenant, and call it Maundy (command) Thursday.
On Friday we walk the 14 Stations of the Cross with Jesus down the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem as he walks to his death, freely accepted in order to destroy death and reconcile us to God. And so today we are free to be all that we can be, in the name of this Jesus, the Christ, the Messiah.
On Easter morning, yet in the dark of night, we worship alongside the “New Fire,” which is kindled and blessed, out under the cross in the yard, lighting our candles from this New Fire as we prepare to walk to the blessed holy place of the baptismal font. We renew our baptismal vows. We are sprinkled with baptismal waters and then rejoice in Holy Worship, singing loudly, boisterously and yet, reverently:
And now we continue the walk through seven Sundays of Easter as we approach Pentecost, 50 days after Easter, when the tongues of fire fill us with the Holy Spirit. Christ the King will confirm eleven youth on this day of Pentecost (which is also Mothers’ Day) as they affirm their baptisms: Doug Baldwin, Benji Barish, Joseph Bertini, Megan Clark, Connor Delaney, Bryce French, Greer French, Kailah Garcia, Georgia Googer, Ashley Hoehn and Spenser Ittner. Pray intentionally for these young people and their families. Learn their names. Call them by name. With that they will feel the love of Christ through you in this faith community.
“You are established, anointed and sealed by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:21-22.
