A Message from the Pastor
Dear People of God,
Sundays with you and I am still very much in the Learning Mode. Thank you for your many kindnesses, patience, joy & so much else. You continue to be such a Good People of God as I had been told you were from the beginning.
Settling in continues to be interesting. My office furniture has been rearranged a couple of times. It’s a fine space as I have counseled there, met with visitors, leaders and members as well. The staff is great, and Marge is most helpful. Pastor Robb & I are “on the same page.” I’m learning about Council and Transition Ministry after two powerful meetings with each leadership team & after many many e-mails, also after meeting with staff, Worship & Music & also Stephen Ministers. The Piecemaker’s Quilting group is indeed ecumenical, 52 women coming together from a number of churches. Tuesday morning’s 10 o’clock Bible study stretches the soul. Keep an eye open to every activity, every event taking place in this lovely holy place that you have here.
The importance of communication is recognized by your leaders. Transition Ministry under Marilyn Young’s direction is moving forward in its many tasks: informing, gathering data, communicating at Sunday announcement time, writing in the newsletter & by word of mouth—doing a great job. Council members under Van McCollum's leadership will communicate with you through the newsletter, the bulletin & in various ways. Pastor Robb & I are open to conversation, especially about transition at this time in the church’s history.
Our task in this transition period serves as a rich time to know the church as it is & to dream & vision its ongoing life. Transition serves as a powerful “bridge time” to sort through the church’s history, what is now & to make any shifts & bends as the Congregational Profile is worked through, approved & sent to the Synod Office. Then this Profile will be matched to pastors in a possible Call Process.
Do everything the Transition Ministry & Council ask of you. Without your input on the survey etc., the Congregational Profile will be prepared by only a few of you rather than by all members of Christ the King. You are vital to new life, new breath in this holy place. Your spiritual journey calls for your prayers, for your ear, for your heart, for your complete awareness & participation.
Know that I am lifting you & loving you & that, “You are established, anointed and sealed by God.” 2 Cor. 1:21-22.
