A Message from the Pastor

Pastor Dee

Dear People of Christ the King, the People’s Church,

We kneel squarely in the heart of Lententide, the 40 days of prayer, fasting and social action. Share with me and with each other where you are in your discipline as we move to Maundy Thursday, Good Friday (the blackest day in the history of the world), and then as we whet our appetites for rejoicing in Easter. We live through the drama and remembering this new year of our Lord 2008.

Maundy Thursday

HOLY COMMUNION
WASHING OF FEET
STRIPPING OF THE ALTAR BY CONFIRMANDS

Thursday, March 20, we will dramatically model after Jesus, reenacting that Thursday. On Maundy Thursday at 7:00 p.m. with the Last Supper, we commemorate that first Thursday. Then you can come forward to one of the front pews where I and any other person who is reminded of Jesus can come and wash feet, remembering. Finally the confirmands will strip the altar. Pray deeply that you will be a part of this momentous worshiping of God.

Good Friday

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

Good Friday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. We will commemorate Jesus’ condemnation; taking the cross; Christ falls down; Christ meets Mary, his mother; Simon of Cyrene carries thecross; Veronica wipes Christ’s face; Christ falls again; he tells the women of Jerusalem not to weep for him; Christ falls a third time; he is stripped; nailed to the cross; Christ’s death; his body is taken from the cross; and his body is placed in the tomb.

Resurrection Sunday

EASTER SUNDAY

Sunday, March 23 when we awake joyously to live out the drama, we too come to the empty grave and rejoice as we worship our Great God, giving thanks for Jesus, the Christ, the Messiah. 6:30 a.m., 8:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. Breakfast will feed us all morning long. Hallelujahs will be sung loudly and clearly.

Blessings to you as we move together upon our spiritual journey: feeling, knowing, thinking and experiencing Jesus Christ as we walk the Via Dolorosa in the Holy City of Jerusalem, the Way of the Cross or the Way of Sorrows, following in the footsteps of Jesus as we participate in the drama.
