A Message from the Pastor
On Sunday, January 31, we bid thank you and farewell to
Kelly Edwards, our Youth Ministry Director. After 4 ½
years serving in the position, Kelly has decided to
commit more time to her family. We thank Kelly for the
marvelous job that she has done during this time and the
many wonderful relationships she has forged with our
youth members and their families.
I know there are many questions concerning the future of our Youth Ministry program, and I want to assure you that Youth and Children Ministry will be a priority for the future. I have long been convinced that the future for potential growth in any congregation rests on the strength of its Family Ministry program. Here at Christ the King we are blessed to have a significant number of children and youth, and their families. It is a significant emphasis on the ministry that we share in this place.
At the same time I realize that we have a large number of retired members in our congregation and are blessed to live in an area where many retirees relocate. As we look at this aspect of our ministry there is need to provide ongoing ministry and new programming for these members of our congregation as well.
The Personnel Committee has begun to look at several possibilities for staffing our congregation in the near future. Personnel will be making a recommendation to the Congregation Council for consideration at the February 9 meeting. Following the February Congregation Council meeting more details will be provided.
I am truly grateful to all of our staff members who have provided committed service to the ministries of our congregation. Time has a way of bringing changes, and those changes need to be embraced with both thanksgiving for the past and hope for the future.
I am thankful to all in the past, the present and for those to come in the future who are part of the fabric that is the legacy of faith here at Christ the King Lutheran Church.
