A Message from the Pastor

This May and June are shaping up to be exciting and busy months here at Christ the King:

  • On May 9 we will be celebrating Confirmation with eight young men and women of our congregation.

  • On May 16 we will honor Pastor Rufus Cuthbertson and Pastor Dick Gantt for the many years of service as Ordained Ministers. Pastor Cuthbertson has been ordained for 65 years and Pastor Gantt for 50 years. CTK has been honored to be a part of the legacy of both these fine gentlemen and servants of God.

  • On May 23 we will celebrate Pentecost Sunday … remember to wear something RED!

  • And on Memorial Day weekend Saturday, May 29, Deborah Jeanne Almy and Bradley Michael Mirkovich will share their vows of sacred marriage here at CTK. Deborah and Bradley are both graduating from the West Point Military Academy and awaiting their first assignment as Officers in the United States Armed Forces.

  • June 1 will mark the arrival and beginning date of our newly called Associate Pastor Seyward (Mattson) Ask. Seyward will have a busy May that includes her wedding to Pastor Justin Ask, graduation from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, and an Ordination service. We look forward to welcoming Pastor Seyward to the CTK community.

  • The annual Assembly of the Southeastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will be held on June 4 - 6 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Both Pastor Ask and I will be attending as rostered clergy, as well as three lay delegates representing our congregation.

  • Vacation Bible School is coming up fast on June 14 – 18. Get out your jungle gear and join the Safari with our children and youth in an exciting faith-filled adventure!

  • And last but not least 15 of our youth will be attending the AFFIRM synod youth gathering in Rome, Georgia from June 20 – 25. Pastor Ask and I will both be spending time there as chaperones and advisors with our group.

And then I will take two weeks vacation at the beginning of July !!!

It is a blessing to serve the wonderful faith community of Christ the King. I am so grateful for the many ministry teams, volunteers, and people of this congregation who commit their time, talent and treasure in response to their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I am looking forward to an exciting year to come as we continue to commit ourselves to the mission of Christ Jesus in this place.
