WELCA
Women of the Evangelical Church in America
DID YOU KNOW....that all women in the congregation
are automatically members of the Women of the ELCA ,(Women of the Evangelical Church
in America)? There is no open enrollment period,
no activation fee, no password, no site key to confirm and no secret handshake.
All women are welcome at all activities, Circle meetings, fellowship and events.
Please come and share in our study, our service and our fellowship fun!
As incoming President of the Women of the ELCA unit at Christ the King Lutheran Church it is my pleasure and honor to thank immediate Past-President Farris Vanderhoff for her faithful service during her tenure. Farris worked very hard to enhance the program at the church and we were blessed by her dedication. Thank you, Farris!
The other current officers of the unit include Debbie Harker, Vice President; Laura Lewis, Secretary; and Barbara Ayres, Treasurer. Linda Forbes is the Circle representative for the Son Circle.
2008 promises to be an exciting year in women's ministry at Christ the King Lutheran Church. We have amazing women of all ages with tremendous love for God. He has given them wonderful talents, skills, compassion and hearts for service.
A number of activities will be offered to the women in our congregation, and I encourage and invite you to participate as your schedule allows. This year you'll find fun fellowship events coming up on Saturdays (one each in April, July and October) and at other times throughout the year. Also look for expanded information on women's ministry on the website in the near future.
, Your Divine Design: Discovering, Developing & Deploying Your Spiritual Gifts, is scheduled for 2/29-3/2 in Helen, Georgia. Registration information was placed in mailboxes recently and there are additional forms outside the office. A Saturday-only option is available for those who cannot make the full retreat. Information will be out soon. (The retreat lodging is also reserved for a 'free night' on Thursday, 2/28, for those who wish to go ahead of time and enjoy the mountains; however, you'll be on your own for food and entertainment until the retreat begins Friday evening.) You'll be refreshed and renewed by the experience, and the fellowship is beyond description! Invite a friend - they don't have to be a member of Christ the King!
will continue on the third Monday of each month at 7pm, with location information published in the bulletin and (soon) on the website. We are currently using the Lutheran Woman Today study on the beatitudes in Matthew Chapter 5. Lutheran Woman Today
Can't make Monday evenings due to a scheduling conflict or a traveling spouse? You're not alone. If you'd like to be in a Circle on another day of the week and time please let me know. We'll post a notice, get everyone together and see how your schedules mesh to start another Circle. (By the way, you are not tied into the same study material!)
Check out Café . Their website says:
Café is an electronic magazine for young women who want to build Community, participate in Advocacy, strengthen Faith, and strive toward Enlightenment (CAFE!). It incorporates a Lutheran perspective for women of Christian faith or simply for any woman who is interested in how faith can relate to the issues that women face today.
I'm looking forward to working together in ministry. Please contact me if I can be of service.
Peace,
Gail Trimble
